Smoothie Game Going Strong
8:00 AM
Anyone who has a gluten sensitivity/allergy/intollerance knows that breakfast is probably the hardest meal of the day because our culture loves a good muffin, pop tart, bowl of cereal, or stack of pancakes for the first meal of any given day. I am a big ole breakfast lover too. It just so happens to be my fave meal, my fave meal outing, and there is always the fact that I actually used to consider pancakes their own food group.
That all had to change real quick a few years back. Smoothies are now a total staple, and I love how clean and healthy they are, as well as the obvious fact that they do not hurt me!
Every now and then I will get crazy, and have a donut or, say... a mickey bar, but as long as it isn't too often, I'm okay. For the days in between those beloved treat days ---> it's smoothie time.
These are my current 2 faves:

- 1/2 cup ice cubes
- Place all items in blender and whirl it up until completely blended

So these smoothies sound delicious! I honestly wouldn't have thought of putting granola on a smoothie, but now I want to try. I am a big fan of Katie's, from Dashing Dish, protein smoothie/shake recipes. A staple in our house is the Reese's PB Cup protein shake because the Mr. is obsessed with chocolate and peanut butter. Not so much a breakfast type smoothie but we have it after our evening workouts.
ReplyDeleteI see that you tagged the Nutribullet in your products list. Thoughts? I need to buy a new blender and have been going back and forth between the Nutribullet and Ninja.
Vicky! I have not actually tried a Ninja. I have had the GNC version of the personal blender and also tried an Oster one with no luck. The Nutribullet has been my favorite so far! (Side note: I do like to take the gasket out of the blender top and clean each individually after each smoothie which does shorten the life of the gasket, buuuuut they luckily sell a replacement part for it.) I'll take squeaky clean over gasket longevity any day of the week!) We have had this one over a year and it gets used approximately 9 times a week.
